Time for a Haircut

I've had my hair long for quite a while
and I am really starting to think that I would like a "new do." I am thinking a cute bob. In honor of my new haircutting mood, I thought I would post this picture of my brother and I with Vince the Barber. We used to go
to him in our younger days. My brother
loved it as you can see.
Here's to a new haircut, hopefully next week.

Saturday Mornings with Papaw

Just remembering what it used to be like on Saturday mornings with Grandma and Grandpa! I get that same peaceful feeling with my David now too.

Only One Left

Some kids don't have many feelings about their grandparents by the time they get to be my age. I on the other hand, have WONDERFUL grandparents. Yesterday my grandpa Jim passed way, making this the 4th funeral for us in one years time. I lost Papaw Morgan in Sept., my father-in-law in February, a good friend of the family in March, and now Grandpa Jim Reeves yesterday.
Grandma Viv, is the only one left-to love on, to learn from, to be loved by. There is something about the generation of those grandparents, that I find myself longing for more and more. I want to know and learn all I can from her. She raised her 6 kids, 2 nephews, and really helped in raising me too!! I owe a lot to her and my Papaw. She is the only grandparent I have left, so today, slightly saddened by that realization. I wanted to share her beauty with the readers of this blog. Grandparents are a gift, not to be taken for granted.

THANK YOU FOR SHOPPING-Weber-Mart!!
To all who helped out in buying from the garage sale we made over $800 for our trip to Kenya. We sold everything from enchiladas to a giant stuffed dog, cinnamon rolls to a burnt up wagon-for real-someone bought that. Aside from gettin a ton of cash for our trip, I also witnessed that one man's junk truly is another's treasure.
Thanks again. Love, Dave and Julie

Garage Sale: we have been having a garage sale, and all is going well. We have made quite a large sum, for a garage sale, and although we didn't pay for our tickets to kenya with it, we are well on our way. One more day...everything half off!!! So hopefully, we'll make some more.

Here's a pic for the day, I am considering posting one each day OR maybe more like a couple a week. We'll see how I feel because I'm slowing down learning to take it all in.
Here's a little guy who was learning to fly, sitting on the window sill of our dining room, this past spring. Baby birds are so cute, with there gigantic beaks to large for their heads. Sort of like little boys when they go through that stage around 8-10 yrs. when their two front teeth are too big for their mouths, or as my friend Kendi says, they look like chiclets.

TD is coming to stay with us this week, while my mom is out of town. He is 15 (16 in Sept) and a really cool little bro. We don't get to hang out as much as I would like, so I am really excited to hang with him. the above picture is him in my papaw's leisure suit. What a riot. Just thought I'd show people how big the little guy who came to band and musical practices in high school has gotten.

It's Saturday and I love Saturday mornings, almost as much as I do Sunday mornings now. Dave is sleeping in, up late playing video games with his good buddy Matt-still boys when it comes to video games. So while Dave sleeps, I am trying to find tickets to some place for us to take a trip. There are so many places I'd like to go, and right now we can't afford much, but I've got an urge and would love to go somewhere that is a blast, interesting, and not too much money. I'll post if I find that place.

Anyhow, our friends have started a new website, where you can book travel and the proceeds go right back into their ministry. So I thought I'd tell you about it, we are traveling with them to Kenya in November, so if you buy airline tickets, rent cars, hotel rooms, etc. through their website, the commission made will help pay for our tickets to Kenya. This morning I was curious about the prices offered on this website, so I checked it out. Good News is they are cheaper than most other sites I checked when running the same departure and return city, for flights. So you may want to check it out, help us go to Kenya, and save some money yourself:

Lately, we've spent a lot of our time working on the house we just purchased. It's fun to finally be a homeowner. It's a cute house, and a great purchase, for a first home. It seems that all is settling back in here in Ohio, but I find myself longing for the weather, beach, and activities California has to offer. For now, we will stay and enjoy our friends and family here. I am planning on working on another degree, starting this Fall. That should keep me busy for a while. It is kind of difficult deciding what to study, I am leaning towards a teaching certificate, or my master's with a teaching certificate. We'll see...
